Several of Anne McCrady's poems from her collection, Letting Myself In, have been performed as Art Song set to compositions by University of Texas at Tyler music professor and department chair, Dr. Kyle Gullings. Soloist was opera chair, Dr. Sooah Park.
Anne is the author of the libretto -- the dialgoue & lyrics -- for a contemporary opera score written in collaboration with Dr. Kyle Gullings. Though never performed as the complete opera, several of the pieces were presented on stage with piano accomplaniment and student actors at the University of Texas Braithwaite Recital Hall, and later at two other colleges. The pieces were also performed in the beautiful sanctuary at the First Presbyeterian Church in Tyler, Texas, as part of the East Texas Music Teachers Recital with a chamber orchestra and vocalists.
Anne is currently working on a musical theater version of her original parable, Kevin and the Seven Prayers, written several years ago and published by InSpiritry as an inspirational giftbook. The narrative, inspired by St. Kevin of Ireland, follows an imprisoned man who finds freedom is a state of mind, a truth revealed through seven prayers and an unexpecte act of physical sacrifice.
